Second Birthday

When Bonnie pointed out KootenayCuts is two years old this Friday, January 23, I could hardly believe it. This is definitely NOT a case where time has flown by. It feels as if we have been doing this forever. It is hard to believe that gang of dullards and cutthroats in Victoria, two of whom are our very own disastrous elected "representatives", could have done so little good and so much damage in so little time. And of course that's only the microcosm. They are only our own manifestation of the global neo-liberal corporate agenda.

The up side of all of this is we have formed some good partnerships and gotten to know and work with some terrific people. Personally, Bonnie's friendship and support is a wonderful gift I have received. And we hope we have helped to keep the rebel spirit alive in the Kootenays, ragged as it does seem at times.

Thank you to all our friends and allies. Thanks for posting, thanks for reading, thanks for all the kind words you have sent our way, and for the hugs you share with us when you see us.

This won't go on forever. One day these horrid people with their destructive social agenda and their self-serving behaviours will be defeated, and the work we have all done will give us the skills and knowledge to help create a more just world for all.

I read a great quote in the new "Geist" magazine: "Time kills all weasels." Unfortunately, however, we don't have that much time. Every piece of our province these jerks sign away or sell to their corporate friends is one piece we will never get back short of a revolution.

I've been reorganizing the website, sorting out old links, etc., and I can hardly believe the amount of material we've produced in two years.

And Moe has been there the whole time, calling me late in the evening to chat, swear or laugh at the latest bewildering news from Victoria. Thank you my friend.

Oh, and did someone mention weasels?
