ATTACHMENTS
For the benefit of subscribers, email attachments will not be
accepted on the mailing list. It is best to post the address of a
web page instead: "See http://example.com/greatphoto.jpg"
EXCESSIVE QUOTING OF PREVIOUS POSTS
Although this may fall under the Netiquette guidelines, it happens
a lot, so it deserves a heading of its own. Please include just
enough quoted material to establish the context of your reply.
HTML / RICH TEXT FORMAT / MIME
For the benefit of all members, the list will not accept HTML, Rich
Text Formatted (RTF), or MIME-encoded messages. All email programs
have a "plain text" option; you must use it.
MEMBERSHIP LIST
The list of subscribers is not available to the public. Only the
mailing list administrators can see it. Only simple statistics,
like the number of subscribers, are accessible to the public.
UNSOLICITED ADVERTISING
This mailing list may not be used for any form of unsolicited
advertising. Posting off-topic material may result in your email
address being banned from posting to the list.
NETIQUETTE
The List Moderators will encourage and, if necessary, enforce
standard netiquette. If you are new to the internet, please read
some of the following documents before posting.
http://www.dtcc.edu/cs/rfc1855.html
http://www.imaginarylandscape.com/helpweb/mail/polite.html
http://www.albion.com/netiquette/corerules.html
http://www.fau.edu/netiquette/net/
NO OFFENSIVE OR FOUL LANGUAGE
In order to make this list accessible to everyone, explicit
profanity is forbidden. Profanity implied by code such as "what
the **** is going on," is generally frowned upon. However, in some
cases it may be necessary to use something like **** when quoting
material from other sources.
OFF TOPIC MESSAGES OR THREADS
Restrict your posts to information about BC cutbacks that affect
the Kootenays. Of course, you are free to discuss tangential
issues in private; just don't post them to the mailing list.
If you change the subject when replying to a post, please change
the subject line accordingly. The easiest way to do this is to
start a new message, rather than using your "reply" feature.
SIGNATURES
Sigs are fine, but don't make them excessively long. It is also a
good idea to place a "-- " (dash dash space CR) on a clear line
before your signature, so that it can be automatically excluded
from replies.
RESPECT FOR OTHER MEMBERS:
This mailing list will not tolerate any disrespect or "flaming."
Repeat offenders may have their email addresses banned from the
list.
BY SUBSCRIBING OR POSTING TO THIS MAILING LIST, YOU AGREE TO ABIDE
BY THE GUIDELINES LISTED ABOVE. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN
SUSPENSION OF POSTING PRIVILEGES.
