The purpose of the proposes pest management plan (PMP) is to control vegetation,
including noxious weeds and invasive plants, on FortisBC Inc. transmission and distribution rights-of-way, including access roads. The pest management methods
proposed for use include tree and brush removal, pruning, mowing, slashing, machine
grooming, seeding, alternative plantings, alternate uses for rights-of-way, and pesticides.

The proposed area covered by this plan is the FortisBC Inc. service area. Transmission and distribution rights-of-way are located between Creston and Grand Forks in the southern Kootenays, the Okanagan Valley from Osoyoos to Kelowna, and the Similkameen Valley from Princeton to Keremos. Historically, vegetation management on FortisBC Inc. rights-of-way has been undertaken under authority of Pesticide Use Permits.

The proposed duration of the PMP is from April 15, 2005 to April 14, 2010.

The common name and trade names of the pesticides proposed for use under this plan include: glyphosate (Roundup, Vantage, Vantage Plus), dicamba (Vanquish),
2,4-D (2,4-D Amine 500), triclopyr (Garlon 4), picloram (Tordon 22K), metsulfuron-methyl (Escort) and clopyralid (Transline).

Application methods include: backpack, wick/wipe on, hack and squirt, stem and stump injection, basal bark, cut stump, soil (spot gun), power hose and nozzle, boom sprayer, Radiarc sprayer and Brown Brush Monitor.

A person wishing to provide information about a proposed treatment site, relevant
to the development of the pest management plan, may send copies of the information
to the applicant within 30 days of the publication of this notice.
