Kootenay Cuts (www.kootenaycuts.com) was started by Moe Lyons and Bonnie Nilsen in January of 2002 in response to all the cutbacks and other harmful legislative changes imposed by the Liberal government in Victoria. The site is an organizing and activist tool for people in the West Kootenays and features up-to-the-minute news and events and a linked e-mail list.

As rural women of very limited income, we saw a way we could cooperate with others throughout our vast region with minimum expenditure of money and maximum use of our personal skills, energies, and resources.

Moe is the writer and researcher for the site and Bonnie does the design and web development.

Recently we have been in the news and the public eye because we were first past the post in putting out a range of items featuring the Campbell mug shot.

Kootenay Cuts has been using the merchandise distribution services of Cafe Press for a few months now. Our designs include: the Kootenay Cuts logo; Liberal-Except in BC; and Special Interest: Democracy and we have now added the Campbell arrest photo. The Campbell design was added because it was timely and we knew our site readership would appreciate it.

Any commissions earned from the sale of products goes to support the work of Kootenay Cuts.

As to our position on whether Premier Campbell should resign: Well, of course he should, if he believes anything he has ever said. In the final analysis, however, we honestly don't care whether he stays or goes. It really doesn't matter to us who is in the driver's seat when the Liberals careen off into oblivion.
